Scam on Weatherby XXII Bolt?

I see what appears to be the same picture of a perfect Weatherby XXII Bolt on two different sites, one is GI. One for $1,595 and one for $900.

Surely a scam?

I sent the GI lister a message.

And the other site is Armslist, right?

Same picture of Weatherby Anschutz XXII Bolt is up on Armslist again. The owner is asking $1,800. This fellow who copies the picture is asking less than $1,000.

I've had only one experience on Armslist to date, it was very positive.

I just checked again, the photo has been taken down. The $1,800 version is up now.

$1,800 for a BOLT? Not a whole rifle?! What are they made of?

The OP's thread is about a Weatherby XXII bolt action 22, not the earlier XXII automatic. That's why he's saying BOLT.

I bought one without a box but didn't appear fired with zero blemishes (.22LR) about 1.5 months ago for $1,399. Most I see are $1600-2,000.

A couple of nice ones have sold on GB auction for just over $1,425.

One sold last week on Gunbroker for $1325, a bolt action 22LR. Maybe I should start shooting better ammo in mine.

Thank you for the current prices. I don't really pay attention to the prices much. I do own one which I bought when they were first released.

That kink of pricing is insane, it is just an Anschutz 1416 dolled up. I bought one when the first came out, I think I paid 900 for it. It was a .17hmr and it was a POS and did not shoot for beans. It was real pretty tho. I sold it down the road after trying a bunch of ammo.

I agree with you. Long before I'd cough up 1800 (or even 1400) I'd add a few shekels and get a 1712. (and I have owned dozens of 1700 series rifles)
The current high price for 1416s or their equivalent, helps to add buoyancy to the Weatherbys. Plus, I'm not even sure if Anschutz offers a standard weight barrel version now for the 64 actions.

Pretty always sells however. For some, it may be as close as they'll get to something like a Canyon Creek custom,(though no comparison) and that's fine too.

I have 1712 in mind, but if my new Weatherby Anschutz shoots, I think Iíll satisfy that itch. Iíve always admired Weatherby stocks.

Armslist sometimes has scammers Be careful

Just beware of customers that don't want to talk on the phone(accents). Watch out for odd wording or sentences(second language or words used out of context). Watch out for prices that are a little too good. Stolen pictures from other sites are a dead giveaway. Lots of these are in Michigan for whatever reason. I caught several scams just messing around.

I was suspicious once of an Armslist ad and did a search on the picture that included the serial number and found it on another listing. I emailed both and they assured me they had the firearm pictured. Soon the Armslist ad was removed.
