2nd post here. My buddy and I hunt together frequently. About 3 seasons ago we hunted frequently when there seemed to be squirrels everywhere. On 5 different occasions we shot our limit of 5 each. Gotta say at the end of skinning 50 squirrels, we were not so eager to kill our limit. When I hunt alone, I sometimes take a book, a thermos of coffee, and sit next to the woods in my vehicle and just enjoy the solitude and beauty of it all. At age 72, I don't hunt with the all-out determination that used to propel me through the woods. Squirrel hunting is and always has been my favorite hunting.

When I was a teenager I would usually get 1-3 but didn't kill 5 (limit in IN) until in my mid-twenties. The reason I didn't get past 1-3 is I'd get so excited with that many that I couldn't stand waiting to share with my dad or uncle, so I quit an hurried home.

I've killed limited in IN, KS, MO, and KY from mid-twenties until I was about 45. Now days, I'm not after a bag limit. I'm out for 1-2 for the pot and then on to the house.

I hunt em with rimfire and air rifles.

Limits

I hunt til I'm tired or until I have another commitment. Limits do happen but I'm happy with one until I shoot 2. 2 until I shoot 3. 5 is the limit, and I'm still happy.

Life is good if I get my sanity time in the woods. Sometimes a limit takes a morning and and evening hunt. Sometimes I sit on the porch when it's raining and kill 5 in the front yard in 20 minutes. At my house, it's all time in the woods.

Nobody ever said you had to be good at hunting to enjoy it. All I've been hearing for the last twenty years is we need to get more hunters in the field. Do you think they will all be good at it?

Here in Pennsylvania the limit is six per day. I do on occasion kill my limit but more often than not I don't and that's okay. I don't think anybody always limits out. Two years ago I killed an entire limit in about 30 minutes right after daybreak all from the same pig nut hickory tree and all head shot. This happens but only rarely. That why I remember it so vividly after two years. I am happy as long as I do not get skunked and make all head shots. No matter how many I bag if it's one or six or somewhere in between it's all about having a good time and enjoying your time in the woods.

Our limit is 12 a day. I killed the limit twice this last year. Normally have a lot of between 5 and 7 days.
I dont want to kill a bunch any more. Not sure I will ever try to kill a limit again unless I am hunting with 22 man. Have to kill a bunch if hunting with him to keep from being too embarrassed.

The NC limit is 8. Over the last several years once in every 7.5 hunts on average. About 6 times a year.

how frequently do you kill a limit of squirrels

4-5 is a good hunt with a rifle and is what I usually do. Itís much easier to limit out with a scatter gun, but not nearly as fun, and allot more work to clean; not to mention the risk of chewing on shot.

While the daily limit in Southern Illinois is 5, I only fill it about once every 4-5 trips to the squirrel woods. I always challenge myself to take the limit in only five shots and will pass up marginal shots to try for that magical 5 squirrels/ 5 shots with one of my rimfire rifles. Typically, I take 80-100 tree squirrels annually, giving many away to senior citizens who enjoyed a squirrel dinner in their younger days but no longer have a source for cleaned bushytails.

I hunt exactly the same way that TRG does, I try to kill one squirrel for every shot that I fire, if I can do that I call it a perfect hunt even if I only kill one. Limit here is 12 so I think last season I came home with 9 ,10 or 11 a couple times but not not 12 and I was okay with that. I'm even okay with two or three as long as I hit every squirrel I
shoot at.

Been a long time since getting a limit of 8 here in Alabama. Rare to even see 8 in a day much less get them all. 3 or 4 for an afternoon's hunt is fine with me, I just hate those days when you see none at all, makes it boring to not even get a shot.
