86 / 100

4 above now 5 below later tonight. Was down south last week, got to shoot on the electronic targets at the CMP Anniston Alabama range. WOW, what a great range. Had my air pistol along, scores did not go up but still a great time.

Brian, shoot @ 33' & get a 100 please

Brian,

Please make up a stand you can set up at your indoor 50 foot range at the 33 foot mark and shoot a 100. Very little question in my mind about your ability to do it.

Thanks, David

Thank you for your vote of confidence, David, but I don't think it will be all that easy.

This winter, I have been shooting weekly in an offhand postal league (AR 5/10 target shot at 10 meters). When I compare the AR 5/10 and A-17 targets, it seems to me that a score of 100 on the A-17 would be roughly equivalent to at least a 90 on the AR 5/10. I have shot 52 AR 5/10 targets so far this season, but have shot a 90 only twice in all those targets. I am just not that steady (essential tremors, reluctance in giving up caffeine, working for a living, etc.), but I continue to work on it and have fun. All those AR 5/10 targets I shot are in addition to the A-17's I shoot at my club for the 4-P postal league I am in, which is where my scores here come from and why they are at 50 feet, as you know.

This year, I have a pellet trap set up at 10 meters where I live, so I will try to remember to bring some A-17 targets home next Tuesday to give it a go. You challenged me to this three years ago and the best score I came up with was a 93.

I brought home several A-17 to try at 10 meters, but I will be away next week, so it may be a while before I get to shoot them. Good shooting everyone!

Brain, I agree with you on the assessment on the targets. FWIW, I think we both shoot on the same postal.

I think that 17' will make a lot of difference in your scores---of course for the better. It will be interesting to see how it goes.

Are you shooting your Offhand Air Rifle scores for the postal @ 50' also?

Good way to lose points.
At the end if our season our league decided Master Class shooters would use AR 5/10 targets next year. Ordered some and they came today. Shot a 10 shot string and ended up with a 73. I will need to change my front insert to something smaller though.

CMP Daisy with CMP trigger mod, Front and rear aperture sights,
AR 5/10 target, 10 meter basement range.
73 pts

A-17's at 10 meters tonight

bberg7794 (Brian, 52)
Rifle-Feinwerkbau 800W with iron sights and a 4.6mm aperture in front
Pellets-RWS R10, .177"(4.5mm), 0.53 gram
Details-10 meters, A-17 targets, offhand, shooting coat, no sling
Location-home.

Target one: 8, 10, 9, 9, 10, 10, 10, 9, 9, 10: 94
Target two: 9, 8, 10, 10, 9, 9, 10, 9, 10, 10: 94
Target three: 9, 9, 10, 9, 9, 9, 8, 9, 10, 10: 92
Target four: 10, 9, 9, 9, 10, 8, 10, 10, 10, 10: 95

Here are some targets shot at 10 meter tonight. I used the 4.6mm aperture that I use on the AR 5/10 targets, but the bull of the A-17 nearly fills this aperture leaving a very thin sliver of white around it when centered. This makes for a more difficult shot release since my hold is rarely perfectly steady. The 4.6mm aperture is the largest I currently have. When I shoot at the A-17's at 50 feet, I use a 4.2mm aperture and find it to be about perfect. Had a bit of trouble concentrating this evening because of an appointment with a doctor first thing tomorrow morning. Anyway, I definitely believe a 100 is possible, I just don't know how many tries it will take. I am positive others would have an easier time getting to the perfect score.

P.S. I used my full competition gear-shooting coat, pants, and offhand stand to rest the rifle while loading between shots as I do on most nights. These scores would not be this high without the full compliment of equipment.
