A nice working woods knife.

Got lucky and found another Jack Hawk custom on Ebay, unlike most customs this one had actually been used and had a couple of small blemishes on the blade which I removed.

Jack by the way is the son of Joe Hawk AKA Joe Dakota, an early Knifemakers Guild member.

Very NICE!

I would be afraid to take it out of the house for fear of losing it. I have lost several knives over the years. One, a Case, 3" hollow ground blade with nice handle is somewhere along a 'no name' creek in the Cedar Creek drainage on the Spotted Bear RD, Flathead NF. I lost it in 1965 while marking a sale unit.

More recently, I lost a Buck 4" folder TRCP knife in my yard.... somewhere.

Somehow, I have managed to hang on to a Ruana sheath knife that I bought in Kalispell in 1963. It has skinned out a lot of game, big and small.

Found a used small cape-skinning Jack Hawk custom in decent shape, a few scratches on the blade from an ill fitting sheath.

This is my third Jack Hawk and all of mine have similar hallmarks. File work on the blade top, a scalloping effect done on the upper third or so of the blade sides and his name stamped just above the handle.

A lot of very nice looking knives. On the subject of lost knives I have only lost one. A BSA sheath knife that was a Christmas present from my aunt. Stuck the sheath in my jeans pocket without putting it on the belt loop and who knows where it ended up.

Good looking knives, I like to see pieces by makers I'm not familiar with. I used to chase knives by Warren Goltz, hard to find pieces by a retired Guild member.

A little background on Jack Hawk's Dad "Joe", would love to get my hands on one on his but have never seen one for sale and probably out of my price range anyhow.
