I don't have that one but do own five meopta scopes.
what kind of info are you looking for?
meopta's glass is excellent even in their lower-tier stuff, I have two optika6 scopes and they are the 30mm tube version of the 1'' tube optika5 scopes other than the tube diameter the glass is the same.
oh and these guys have a huge database that covers about every scope out there with some good info you might find useful.
from the page I linked below:
About the optics database
The optics database contains most firearm optics for sale in North America, including complete offerings of 53 major brands. Features: comprehensive brand coverage, all specs in standard units, FOV at comparison powers, reticle diagrams, user manuals, country of assembly, and OEM factory. Sort and filter.
The Optika5's have been replaced by the Optika6 line. About the only difference that I could see is that the 5's were a 1" tube and the 6's are 30mm but, pretty much the same quality of glass. I like my Optika6 4.5-27x50 a lot. It's a lot of scope for the $.
Patriot_MD are you sure they discontinued the optika5 line?
they were both new lines and a lot of places are saying they are back orderable and some say they expect new shipments on May 3rd. I hope your wrong and it is just the whole covid thing and the fact that there have been some delays with their new plant in Florida because the optika5 line would be great for rimfire and hunting rigs.
No, not 100%. I could've sworn that I read somewhere (or overhead in a video) that the new Optika6 line replaced the Optika5 line but, I couldn't find the article.
There's the February 2020, pre-pandemic story from Shooting Illustrated and it looks like you're right about the Optika5 but I'll keep looking to find the story I was referring to.
that's what I thought, I remember reading that they focused down to 10 yards and were for rimfire rifles. so I wouldn't think they dropped them from the lineup.
well, I still hope your wrong lol, and don't worry if you can't find it. it will be about four or five months before I can afford another. but I was thinking the 4-20x50 would be nice on one of my 22s
No worries! I watched so many videos and read so many online articles about Meopta before I finally bought one, I'm having trouble remembering where I read/heard it. I hope I'm wrong, too, because the Optika5 is one helluva value. I started to get the 4-20x50 but, went with an Optika6 because I had an extra set of 30mm rings I wasn't using and I really wanted that extra 7x of magnification. :bthumb:
I can't blame you for wanting the extra 7x I am considering the 4.5-27x56 for one of my target/varmint AR 15s. it currently has an 8-32x44 BSA with a target dot reticle that was built in Japan. the glass is pretty good but not Meopta good and I would then put that scope up for sale. I am waiting for my summer trip to Idaho to visit the wife's family because there are 3 meopta dealers in the Boise area and one of them should have something in stock to look through, I hope.
The Optika6 line predates the Optika5 line by a year or two.
I was interested in the Optika5 SF RF with the MOAplus reticle after I heard about them last fall so emailed Meopta.
They told me on the 10/26 that "they were 4-6 weeks out" because they wanted to introduce the higher mag/bigger dollar (bigger money) scopes first.
Had a pre-order with B&H or Cameraland that I cancelled in mid Feb after a couple of months of waiting.
Have bought some scopes in the mean time and would like to try one if they ever make it over here. Interesting mix of features/perceived quality for the $350 price.
Not in love with it's reticle and wish it had illumination for my old eyes in some conditions. But it seemed workable and not a deal breaker.
Moving up in the Optika5 line it $500 by the time you get to an illuminated reticle.
The $500 market for scopes is pretty intense so that makes me look at other options.
The $350 RF SF hits a price point I can rationalize. But $500 for a Meopta with lit reticle is two 4.5-27 Alpha6's
that I know are decent glass with a lit reticle.
HTH
Ike838 are you talking about the aim sports 4.5-27 Alpha6 if so the meopta is going to have way better glass and build quality. not trying to knock the scope been there done that. I have owned a few Chinese BSA, Bushnell's, and Simmons scopes over the years and they served me well at the time. are there any meopta dealers near you where you could go look at a scope?
I know money can be an issue trust me I am not made of it. and this may not be an option but how I buy my Meopta's (and some will think it's stupid) but because I appreciate nicer glass as I get older and my vision gets worse I find a place (like sportoptics) that takes PayPal credit and use that to buy the scope. depending on the price you have at least six months to pay it off with no interest if paid in full before the time is up. that's how I got my Steiner and all five of my Meopta's. but I have had a PayPal credit account since they started doing them on eBay.
The Optika 6 did not replace the Optika 5. Ive been waiting forever and am on the waiting list for the 2-10x42 Rimfire Meopta told me they were having trouble Getting some parts because of the Pandemic this has been going on forever it seems
Waiting for the Optika5 RF with Z+ reticle myself.
I like the size, and it's going to one of my airguns.
Tempted to go for the 3-15x44 or the 4-20x44 (both with Z+ reticles), as they are readily available right now with very limited numbers from a particular store, but I really like the size of the RF model.
sport optics claims it is in stock but low quantity. and if you use the code EURO16 it will get you 16% of the list price of $349.99 they are where I got two of my optika6 scopes, I am now up to six meopta scopes
hopefully, someone has one and can tell you. I don't have that one, I have the optika6 1-6x24 and 3-18x56 C1 RD and the dots in those are too big for precision work, more of a hunting reticle. now my optika6 4.5-27x50 with the FFP MRAD1 reticle has a very small dot and crosshairs even at full magnification.
