I bought a 783 a couple years ago for 125 dollars from a local gun store. It was a bit dirty but not abused. The tag said it was a .22 LR but the barrel is marked 783 magnum. I questioned the sales person and he snapped back at me said something like, "can't you read, it says LR on the tag, take it or leave it". I paid him 125 and walked away with a 300 dollar gun. Cleaned it up and it is beautiful and shoots magnums real well.
