To paraphrase quickly.

This guys waiting period was up, and he is able to buy a small caliber rifle.
He looked at a few, and really liked a CZ .22. He had a friend that had one, and had let him check it out. But the price of the rifle would clean out the treasury, let alone being able to buy a scope.
So he settled on a TOZ-8. Bolt action 5 shoot clip “ They tried to sell him a 10 shoot clip also, but he just got the 5.

Bore was bright and shiny. 6 grooves, wood was ugly but he figures he can refinish. Fit and function were OK, but not up to the CZ standards.

He took it out and shot some groups using open sites, and some different ammo, and was amazed at the accutcy, getting groups of around 1/2” to an inch from a bench. He says the gun was more accurate than he was.

So he decides to scope it and see what it really can do. He has trouble finding rings and mounts that will fit. So he has a local machine shop make him a mount, and buys low as he can find rings. He had read and article by Jeff Cooper (Dzhef Cooper) on how to position the scope etc.

After scoping he take it to the range, and goes though the dialing in process. After getting it dialed in and trying different ammo, he was able to get some 3 shot groups of around .25 inches, at 50 meters.

Goes on to say this gun is really a shooter, etc. How pleased he is etc.

Sounds just like anyone of us, that buys a rifle, and is surprised.

Good reading.
