The AO change does not open the scope. No loss of gas. Front lens carrier seems to move and be sealed just like the rear eyepiece. It only takes about 3/4 of a turn to get from 150yds back to 50 yds....

I like the Leupold 4-12x40 VX2 and the earlier versions. That said, the Leupold fine duplex is a little thin for fast pick up against some backgrounds.
The Leupold regular duplex reticle is good...

I agree with TBR....that beauty needs a gloss scope. I would be looking at my other rifles and moving a Leupold 4.5-14 or smaller model to the new rifle or seek out a like new gloss Leupold on Ebay....
