Thanks for the info. Since I came late to the discussion, how does one measure the headspace with a depth mike? What are the reference points to measure from? I have the gear and know how to use it.

How apply?

Where, and how, does one apply these shims to tighten the headspace?

See the folks at DJ's in Bothell

DJ's Pawn Shop is THE best gun shop west of the Cascades. They stock a full range of shotguns and have the largest selection of guns of all types I've seen in recent years.

Aguila primed

The last two bricks I bought at Cabela's are marked "Aguila Primed". some earlier stuff I have is marked "Eley Primed" Perhaps the licensing agreement ran out. I doubt the Aguila folks would have...

Not sure about a favorite ... yet

My first CZ rifle was a 455 American in 22 l.r. I've wanted a QUALITY bolt 22 sporter for many years. It has a machined DIP trigger guard now (like what should have been on it from the factory). It...

Except they were out of stock

I wanted to buy one, but none were available, per the CZ-USA web site. Magically, a couple of days after the sale ended, they were suddenly available! A discussion with the regional sales rep at a...

Just call the folks in K.C. and ask.

I like my Spectre II from Silencerco. It works well on my synthetic American 455 and my Ruger 22/45 series III. With Aguila Colibri (Hummingbird) primer-only ammo in the Ruger, the loudest sound is...

Sportsman Warehouse has some

I'd never seen the cartridge until a couple of days ago. I stopped in at the local SW and saw it on the shelf. Looks like a short .17 HMR.

Except verniers and calipers

Verniers and calipers should be opened a few thou in case temperature changes expand the device jaws. Don't want to spring those precious tools.

I had been eyeing a 22lr 455FS with pretty nice wood at the new local Sportsman's Warehouse for a couple of months. I looked it over three times, then pulled the trigger and 'acquired' it last week....

Trigger work

If your 10-22 is like most out-of-the-box rifles, the trigger pull will be disappointing. The pull on my 1990s vintage gun was 7-8 lbs.

I opted to send my trigger group to Brimstone Gunsmithing...

I have two 8-32x44 Mueller scopes on my 455s. The tube diameter is 30mm which allows for good vertical adjustment. I also added 25 minute rails from DIP for even more vertical range. I use these...

Versapod

I have used two Versapods, one high for sitting, one low for bench or prone, for about ten years. No external springs and things is the biggest attraction. The adapters fit on a sling swivel stud.

Versapod

I prefer the Versapod brand. I have a M70 Winchester in 22-250, an AR-15 (my p. dog guns), and two CZ455s set up to use the two leg sets I have. The low set works great off the bench or prone, the...

I've been using the Wheeler set for about 15 years. Haven't worn out a single bit yet. Many years ago I had both a Grace set and a Chapman set. Neither were anywhere as good as the full-blown Wheeler...

Use silica gel in the can

I store my 22 ammo in G.I. 50 caliber ammo cans with a small packet of silica gel. The silica gel absorbs any moisture in the can. I also store my reloading dies the same way. None have ever shown...

Versapod

I went to Versapod bipods for my varmint centerfire and CZ .22 rf rifles. I don't like all the springs and gizmo levers that hang out all over the place on some brands.

Mag may also fit a 75

If that mag fits a Model 52, it will also probably fit a 75. The 75 target model I received from my dad was shipped in 1939, two years before I was born. I still have the waxed/oiled envelope the...

If you want higher power, take a look at the Mueller 8-32x44. I have two, both from Optics Planet. They're 30 mm tubes, so there's lots of room for adjustment of the reticle. Note, they have both a...

Suppressor ready

Buy the right gun. My 455 with a synthetic stock and 16 inch barrel is threaded 1/2 X 28. Bought it about 3 months ago.

Try 100 yards

Why are you still shooting at 50 yards? Try 1/2 minute groups at 100 yards. My 455 Varmint did that last week.
