Great Article

This was a great article. I agree that the long range hunting craze is out of control. Hunting ethics have given way to hunting ego and self aggrandizement. There are countless videos on youtube...

One Mans Opinion

I think in purchasing any scope, there are multiple factors to consider. I think Sophia covered it quite well. I enjoy NRL22 and punching holes in paper so based on that criteria can give you my...

One Mans Opinion

I have several .22's (CZ and Savage) and have been impressed with both but after shooting the Vudoo, it is a quantum leap up from other rimfires.

I actually received my Vudoo Ravage (18" Kukri,...

Best Rifle has No Name

Best of the Squirrel Guns would be:
1) Savage Mark II FVSR with Nikon 3-9X40 -(Light Maneuverable and Accurate)
2) Savage Mark II BV with Prostaff Rimfire 3-9X40 ( Sub MOA Accurate to 100 Yards)...

Well Said

TooMany,

Thank you. It needed to be said. Not the California Part (Cali for us midwesterners is still over the top :p) but I agree on the Oregon part. And I also agree there are some great guns...

Just Starting out

Couple of quick thoughts

Rifle - Go with something mid range. If you go cheap you will want to upgrade in the near future. In the Mid Range, I would definitely recommend a CZ or a Savage bolt...

597 or 10/22

I would recommend either a 10/22 or the 597 HB. For the 597, you would need a VQ hammer and seer but that is a low cost upgrade. I have found the 597 to be very accurate and very reliable but its...

This thread got out of hand quickly

Wow! This thread got a little personal quickly. I dont usually see that on RFC. This one actually reminded me of my very first post on RFC. Someone was asking about Savage rimfire quality and...

Business is Business

A very conservative assumption is there will be at least 30,000 new CZ 457 rifles sold to CZ Fanatics who have to have the next CZ, as well as some first time users, in the first 12 months world...

Heavy Barrel Savage

I have Savage Mark II BV which has the same barrel as the two savages you have listed. I like the idea of a thumbhole Stock on the BTVSS as the height of the stock sets up nicely to the scope. I...

Rings on a .22 is not that hard

The purpose of the rings is to lock down the scope at a height to keep the bell off the barrel. The recoil of a .22 relative to the recoil of a .308 or higher caliber is nominal. You dont need $50...

Try some 1500 Grit Sand Paper

1500 grit sand paper for metal finishing. It will slowly remove the paint without taking the metal down.

Going to head out to the range on Sunday Morning. Winds should be less than 10 mph but still cold (about 30 degrees). I will say though that the Boyds stock was a conscious decision tied to...
