Easy to solve, zero the scope at the common yardage you will shoot and then reset the turrets to the zero marking.
this way getting back to your original setting is simply going back to zero mark....

Now it could be a left over 1964 receiver, but my 1965 1411 has only the rear grooved DT, it also had a single extractor bolt and I have seen other 1965 54's with dual setups.

I think what Marty is saying is that you can't buy the skill, even with the best rifle out there if you don't have the skill a lesser rifle shot by a more skilled shooter will still beat you.

my understanding is that if the bore is too slick it will not hold the lube in place and you basically are constantly shooting foulers in a sense.
the bore needs some surface to help lay the lube...

I think a lot of it is the ammo at the time and the rifle setup. a 10-20 degree change can make a difference for some lots and rifles.

biggest changes I see is when temperatures go up.
