I have one in .22LR and it shoots good. I also have a Remington 241 in .22 Short which is a Browning copy. It is fun to shoot too and is pretty accurate within 25yds.

Yup, those screws. I figured they were for a peep sight or scope mount. I did see the mounts on Havlin's. I got a copy of the manual from him. I will probably get a side mount or offset rings there....

I have a Remington 514 and Glenfield 10. They run a little over $100 used and are good shooters. My 514 shoots .22 Short and LR equally well. They would be great for training new shooters too.
