I sold a PO Ackley built 22-250. Someone wanted it pretty bad, wish I still had. I've had several HK 22mags, probably should have kept t one of those as well.

What do you guys think of it otherwise? I saw a new one at a gun show for right around $200 I believe, I liked the feel of the stock and the bolt throw. O e butt ugly trigger though.

I agree with Tickridger on carving up your stock. Cast off is different but also it is pretty uncommon to find a loose 540X stock in good condition. I found one complete but it was kind of dumb luck...

Check to see that your ring mount is going clear into the groove. Seems like the best biting rings for these Remingtons are the old Weavers.
