If only S&W would reintroduce that mountain gun then a lot more of us could love that setup! I do love my 617-6 4Ē with the exact mount and red dot except my mount is black.

I'm a fan of the red dot but I to like a scope on my handguns . If you plan on hunting small game where precise shot placement is needed ,magnification is the way to go. IMO.

Took my newly acquired 17-9 out to the range. Average 1 1/2”-2” groups with several brands and velocities of ammo. Never cleaned the cylinder during trials and it extracted everything flawlessly...

Glad to hear you liked the single 9 . I agree with the problems of unburnt powder . A big problem with DA revolvers and getting under the extracter . Never thought about it fouling the ejected rod .
