Do you get some sight-in time at the event? I'd probably start at an indoor 25-yd range and get it to hit about 3/4" to 1" high at that range and go from there.

The spring should not be kinked. It fits into a tiny hole in the frame which is easy to overlook. If you don't get the spring seated in that hole, it will cause problems.

I can only tell you how my 1990 Buckmark was assembled. I have since put on a new (later version with click adjustment) sight assembly and now I use NO washers. None needed. Just Loctite.
