wood shows use, but no cracks. Blue faded but still blue.

If their stamping was extremely poor it would make sense.
I had a strong magnifier and light and the 2nd Z is weak.
The 7 could be a Z, but it shows NO sign of the lower part of the Z.

I have a Remington 121 FieldMaster. receiver serial number 1945XX. barrel marked P7Z. I have looked at the barrel markings with a magnifier, and those are the correct number and letters.

I have soaked the trigger unit for three days now. I have used air compressor to make sure all parts get coated. I am not sure I feel confident to take it apart. May have to take it to a gunsmith....

I did not realize how the code works. That really helps me. Since records say the .243 was introduced in 1959, my 1958 manufactured gun is about as early as it gets.

that info is most helpful.

I found marks on the barrel, on the left side, in a sideways oval the marks are either 11J, or IIJ. The right side of barrel ahs a X. I am thinking this is a very early 1959 gun. Thank you again.
