What I suppose that I was trying to convey, is that a 1416 stock would probably be ok, unless it was recent vintage.

If only the plastic bits are damaged, I would stick with the original stock....

For a rubber pad, you're limited to a slip on shotgun style, or fitting a Pachmyer, which does take some skill.
I'd rather have the factory plastic, as sooner or later, the Pachs go bad.

If I were to re-scope mine, I'd probably buy one of these.The only gloss offering out there. It will require one of the older style Redfield/Browning grooved scope mount bases.

If you need a higher condition gun, buy a higher condition gun.
Just do a minimal effort at rust removal.

Not a tube issue imo.
Remove the breech block and stop. Load tube and see if the cartridges spill out of the receiver hole.

Factory spring is about 2.5#. Backing out the screw won't reduce it very much.
If you do a search here, you'll find instructions for adjusting the sear engagement, which will also improve the pull.

I agree. The rifle should work perfectly fine with OEM magazines. Wisners repro magazines won't make up for an issue with the gun.
