Take a 1/4in hollow ground tip and grind it...

Take a 1/4in hollow ground tip and grind it short. Use a small box end wrench to turn it. I use a piece of patch to hold tip in the wrench.

I don't know type of wood but as you know, Winchester did use some fruit wood for it's rimfire stocks when available.
