I made one using 1/8th inch Kydex. It's stuck on with a few dabs of RTV. Not exactly quick change but not hard to remove without damaging anything.

I consider 3/8-3/4 acceptable if nothing else has been done to the rifle and shooter skill is average to a little better. You might try making sure it's floated and putting a pressure pad in it.

No one can give you a practical answer unless they are your body double. One size doesn't fit all. I usually start with just enough height for the scope objective to clear the barrel and leave room...

The bolt is harder than the barrel and wins every time. Don't worry about it. The 10/22 is as far from being a precision machine. At best it is pretty much junk. That's why aftermarket mods are easy...

I guess I will engage a member hell bent on building post count while not adding much to the conversation. Paying CPC $250 to improve a rifle that shoots as good as his would be a waste of $$$ IMO.
