I'm with Henry88 - how heavy is ypur scope?
I run an older Japanese Bushnell 4-12x40 on my Parrus and so far no issues on my Parrus. That scope isnt particularly heavy, or even heavy for its size....

Yes it is. I'm not committed to FFP in any way, but I have gotten warmed up to them a bit. I was happy to buy either. I went with the Patriot because it doesn't do any less than the other scopes I...

Please let me know how you like that scope. I was considering buying one for my Varmint, but in the end I bought a Swampfox Patriot 6-24x50. Hopefully it will do what I want. I would really like a...

I have a 457 Varmint just like yours, and mine is a shooter. Yours should be too.

Mine, and a group from 50 yards in mild wind. Master L if I remember correctly. And that flyer isn't part of...

MOA reticle design optimized for precision aiming

Hi all,

I've been looking for a new scope and found many with basically the same tree style reticle. Better for tactical use than squeezing groups.

Over the years I've come to respect the...

Thanks guys, and yes it does help.
I guesstimated my 24X at roughly $125 and it looks like I was close.
When I get a chance I'm going to make a small list and sell them. Pretty sure the Tasco will...

Well, I don't know where to find a Mod 2 tangent sight, but I'll keep an eye out for one.

Looked at a Vortex Venom today. Glass seemed slightly better than a DB Tactical to me. Not as good as a Strike Eagle. I'd still like to get my hands an Athlon 10-40 to see one for myself.

Price check - Tasco (Japan) World Class 24X with fine dot

Rear parralax adjusts down to 50 yards. Glass quality is excellent IMO. Lenses are in great shape. Finish is not perfect but its pretty clean. No ring marks either IIRC.

Its a little too long...

I have to say, the Strike Eagle I looked at looked good at 24X. Only held by hand and I was a little shaky, but still enough to form an opinion.

Well, I got a brief look at an 8-34 tonight, and it was pretty good IMO at 34. Most of the reticle isn't visible at that magnification though.I was able to get a very good look at a power tower...

Athlon Argos BTR Gen II 10 40x56

Seems like too much magnification in the $400-500 price range to be any good.
But its SFP with a benchrest friendly reticle, so I suppose it could be solid.
Online user reviews are all over the...

Thanks again guys.

I'm still suspicious of marking up the top of my receiver via a rail, but from the responses here there is no reason for concern. I appreciate the feedback.

Well, for me it comes down to not wanting 1. A second layer of screws to monitor and 2. Absolutely NOT wanting those screws to mar the top of the action.
So I would probably buy the Kelblys 25 MOA...

Rob,

I looked at the DB Tactical 6-24 today and a Strike Eagle 5-25. The Strike Eagle had noticeably better glass IMO. They didn't get have a Venom to compare.
How far off from the Strike Eagle...
