My dad bought a 550 in 1949. It has literally shot tens of thousands of HV 22 ammo over the last 71 years and it is still going strong. It was made for HV ammo.

I seriously doubt there is any chamber erosion with a 22. You bore is likely fine. A bore scope shows a lot of what is normal reamer marks. I wouldn't rebarrel it.

There are no upgrades to the combat grips that came on my 617.

With the CNC machines now if one is wrong all are wrong and that would show up big time. I would guess it is the Action that is messed up. Not a common problem but it does happen.
