Pitting in barrels
Just cleaned a 100 year old colt 32 that looked like a smooth bore when I started. Many hours later I see crisp lands and grooves but LOTS of pitting.
Not too shocked given the condition I started...

Second clip/spring
Take care. . Second clip on top with tab cut/filed can come loose and may interfere with bolt when you try to remove or install.

45 grain cci
I have used the Federal AE "suppressor" 45 gr. For 3 years in a Rem 580 and a Savage MKII fvsr with very good results.
Only out to 50 yards. 45 gr hits small game hard.
Slightly tighter groups...

Remington 580 series
Whenever anyone mentions any of the 580 series I tend to respond with words of love for my 580 (single shot).
Before you do too much try just cleaning and polishing the moving parts in the stock...

Info like this is exactly why I lurk around here!
Thanks.
My 580 really has spoiled me in that I can't imagine anything too much better. . . I am the limiting factor not the 580!

Rem 580 series v Rem 5 teen?
My small collection includes a Rem 580 which I love. I note lots of posts in reference to the "5 teen" models.
What would I find different, better, etc in a 5 teen ?
I do see them for sale in...

Riser
Accuriser cost about $10.00, fits like a glove, works great and looks a little better than home made.

When I first started using these I though they did not work very well because after 1 or 2 I did not get any more discoloration only to find the bore to be clean!

Another vote for Savage MKII.
I bet more expensive brands are as good or better, but as I have stated in the past value is important ro me.

Update o Blazers
Forgot to add both guns are equipt with BSA Sweet 22. Rem has the 3-9, Savage has 6-18. Another vote for inexpensive hardware that does 90% of costly stuff. Call me cheap. . Come out shot me.
