If you are 100% sure you do good reloads, then there's nothing wrong with using them for self defense. Just do not tell anybody that you do. There is no way to tell if it is factory or your reloads.

If that was my pistol, I would send it to Ruger to have it fixed, right away. I would never buy THAT pistol for more than $50 dollars. Then it would go straight to ruger.

I test by putting the edge against your finger nail at an angle to see if it slides, if it does, it is not sharp. Of course you want to be very careful. Try it with a new razor blade and you will see...

The mag. tube shoots the bullet into bore when the bolts snaps back. It is not striped off when coming forward. At least that is what I see with mine.
