We had an older version, and it still works perfectly. IIRC, the dot is something like 5 MOA. We used it on a 10/22, mostly youth group shooting.....but alot of it. Held zero fine. Got a R-1...

Yes, indeed.

Also, never do a box test with a scope you can't afford.

Don't even check for maintained zero several consecutive days/outings with a scope you can't afford.

The problem was perception. The aesthetics of large wood/metal gaps and pressed checkering bothered non-gun writers more than the button ejector and loss of CRF.

Early post-64 push feed guns...

The .240 has an excellent reputation for accuracy. Probably reflects the much shorter freebore vs all the larger rounds.

I seat bullets in my .300 Roys to box mag length so to bring the ogive...

Depends on what I'm looking for in accuracy. Also, on whether the fixed parallax works for the distance range needed. If the parallax is set for 150 yds and I'm shooting a .22rf at 40...

There was nothing slight about the burn rate variations I've seen with IMR-4831.

3300 fps+ for a 180 gr .300 Win (24") at well below "book" max charge. It should have given about 2900 and...

My CCI SV thrashes my GECO bolt in all our rifles but one, a 1966 SA 141. For whatever reason the result is a tie with that one.

"How often do you update your reloading manuals?"

As often as I purchase new powders or new powder lots. That's often enough that I usually end up with each revision.

Less often it's to get...

Patch Out is all I use now. The KG products are similar. Both safe to leave in the bore. And it gets out Cu++ that my higher-NH3+ solvents leave.

Even so, the benchrest formula - alternating...

Reverse is more like it. HS bulk stuff doesn't shoot much better in our Anschutz rifles than it does in our youth group 10/22s.

Better ammo more clearly separates average and good barrels.

About the only cartridges I've been able to load with bulk brass for multiple firearms - over the long haul - have been .38 Spl and .45 ACP. Well, until some...

Been shooting "bolt" through Anschutz sporters, 10/22s, and Dad's Mk2 Ruger reliably. Cycles fine. Stuff is more accurate than bulk HS stuff, including Blazer, but not quite as good as my stash of...

My first rifle, from '66. Trigger is, by current 64 sporter standards, kinda simple. Mine shoots as well as my later 164, also a nice gun. With CCI SV puts five in 3/8" to 3/4" at 50 yds. And...

The old metal IMR cans were notorious. IMR-4831 maybe the worst. Inside walls oxidize, powder ends up with a fine red dust. Sometimes the powder is usable, sometimes not.

I still have some 1#...

I would leave it alone, too. But am no longer a hard-liner on refinishes, especially proper full restorations.

I don't recommend refinishes to "modern" design (M-70s, 12s, 42s, 21s, etc)...

It does happen. Eley sub-HPs shoot better at 50 yds than CCI-SV and sub-HPs through two different 64 sporters. But at 100 yds the rank reverses for both rifles. I suspect this is b/c the exterior...

Also had good luck with the Tasco dot. Think I paid something like $35 20 years ago or so. Didn't find the 5 MOA dot to be that much of a handicap within typical .22rf distances. It held up fine...
