Nice

Brass bouncing back into the action is crazy. That's a new one on me. I am grinning a little because dicking around with 'em is what 10/22s are for. I've never used those big butt ugly charging...

HMR conversions

jcloer1, I feel your buddy's pain. Guys on this forum who are/were much magnum-smarter than I said each conversion has to be "tuned" and no two of them are the same. I had LOTS of trouble getting...

17 luck

I'm not surprised the A17 shoots well. Pleasantly surprised that they run well by most accounts. Bet they A22 will do well also.

I'm pleased to have two 10/22Ms but they are seldom shot and...

Indy

We're on the south side of Indianapolis. There is no shortage of ammo at our immediate location. Rural King and my favorite LGS have been packed. I think the LGS is limiting the number of...

Yikes

Excessive headspace indeed! That sounds exactly like the results of an out-of-battery ignition, AKA, KABOOM! The majority of such incidents in the 10/22M (yeah I know, this particular gun isn't a...

"All day long" ranks right up there with "if I do my part".

If I do my part the groups won't be very good. The gun's gonna' do what the gun's gonna' do.............all day long! :D

WMR

However, the 30 gr VMax WMR loads, at 100 yards or less, can cause wind drift of pieces of a prairie dog which cannot be matched by the .22lr. ;)

Smokers

My mother-in-law died from lung cancer in her early 50s. She was a smoker as was her husband. Several of their offspring (not my wife) were also smokers. Every one of them swore they'd never smoke...

Broke?

Where did the bolt break? The usual failure was below the inner "extractor" groove. If all it did was break that narrow section off, I would try to smooth out the broken area, reinstall the bolt,...

A few years ago, one guy was buying just about every 10/22M that showed up in the online auctions. Many of them went for well over $2K. $1300 would’ve been a steal back then. Still a pretty good...

Sorta

Well, yes. There is that and it's probably the least expensive way to get into a .22 WMR semi-auto........but it ain't a 10/22 Magnum! :)

That auction ends on 2/24 which happens to be my birthday. Feel free to buy it and contact me to arrange for shipping to either me or my favorite gun shop. I think you'll have to pay a lot more...

Long

I hit a prairie dog at just over 300 yards (laser range finder) with a converted 10/22 in South Dakota about 5 years ago. Took just under a full box of ammo before I hit it. I think the bullet...

G44

I got my hands on a G44 Sunday at Rural King in Greenwood, IN. I had been told they are very light as in "feels like a toy". That was dead on. I didn't like it. I've heard many negative reports...

CZ

I don't have a 457 but we do have two 452s in .17 HMR. We have dispatched a slew of prairie dogs with them.

I believe CZ gives 25 in/lb as proper torque for the mounting bolts on the 457....

Hope that 20 MOA base does the trick. Some time ago, I started using Burris Signature rings with the plastic inserts which are self-aligning Fixed a lot of alignment issues with no risk of damaging...

Very cool. In some cases, the original box, especially with original paperwork, is worth almost as much as the gun. Great find!

VQ mount

The theory for the VQ barrel mount, as I see it, is to make sure barrel droop is eliminated from the game. The scope will be looking where the barrel is pointed regardless of barrel/receiver droop. ...

Exactly. If/when that extractor comes loose, it is captured between the bolt and the receiver. The result was often breaking the thin section of the bolt below the extractor groove.

Yup

Put 50 rds of 33 gr VMax through one of mine today. The inner extractor was removed years ago and the groove has not been filled. The gun shoots both WMR and HMR with just a barrel change and has...
