Century Arms

Has anyone bought a Brno No. 1 from them recently? I'd like to hear your thoughts.

Maybe I need to register, but I can't see any prices. What did people pay? How good is the condition? I'm not...

Another option

Federal law prohibits FTF sales between residents of different states, whether you ship, drive, fly, or walk.

An alternative to UPS is USPS general delivery. That way, the gun will be waiting...

Another source of advice

Kiwis do a lot of hunting at night, so check out fishnhunt.co.nz. I started a thread there and got several pages of responses. Of course, the prices and availability are different there, but...

Do I need a line on my arrow like bowfishing? Are head/neck shots essentially impossible? I'm not a bowhunter now, so I'm wondering what the learning curve is.

Bowhunting geese

I'm moving to Maryland over the summer. There's golf courses and other places with goose problems nearby. I picture it will be hard to get permission for hunting with a shotgun. Anybody hunt geese...

I have a no name brand that I bought for $30. The loudest I shoot is 12g and I don't think it's a problem. I am looking to buy a more comfortable pair though.

24f?

Combos are really common in Europe, but this is the only one I know of state-side. Switching from shotgun to rifle is simple.

Southern NH

When I lived in Mass, I bought a rimfire and a fair amount of ammo at the Walmarts right across the state line in New Hampshire. I think a few Walmarts in central Mass had ammo, but the selection...

Building a gun from scratch

I'm looking to build a gun that doesn't leave brass on the ground. I have a shell catcher for the range, but it doesn't work well for hunting.

The easiest solution would be a shell catcher tied...

Thanks

It's making more sense to me now. I think fraud is unlikely, but why take the risk?

The People's Republic of Massachusetts keeps good records of every gun you buy, so the UN already knows all...

Still clueless

I still can't figure out what a bad person could do with a serial number. It's not like a SSN since guns are numbered sequentially. Wouldn't a bad person just file off their SN and then either...

Obscured serial numbers

I don't want to hijack anyone's thread, but I've been wondering this for the longest time so I'm asking here. Why obscure, hide, XX the last couple digits in a serial number?

+1

I see Remington quality as a benefit. I get to shoot BLACKPOWDER in my rimfires, no need to buy a muzzleloader.

Not too be contrary

but, don't spend too much money protecting economical guns. I never had full coverage when I drove a $2500 car.

Are there kids in the house? You certainly want to keep the guns away from them. ...

TBR, Thanks. That's good to know. Eley reports its subsonic hollowpoint is a little quieter than the competition, but I don't know if anyone has verified it.

Volquartsen makes a forward blow...

Mechanics of leading?

Since the exposed part of the bullet is covered in lube, does the leading come from the base? Are the expanding gases hot enough to melt some of the lead?

Zinc?

Lead is so much denser than zinc (11 v. 7). Won't zinc produce a light and fast bullet instead of heavy and slow? Has anyone tried ITX or other non-toxic shot?

Does anyone sell primed brass for...

Fascinating thread

I just found this thread and it's really interesting. I bought some SSS, but found that they keyhole out of my new CZ. I'd love a heavy, slow bullet for hunting because I'm skittish of buying a 1...

Quicker than Hoppe's

Do some searches. Some people use non-chlorinated brake cleaner, some even pour boiling water down the barrel. My 452 was only lightly coated, so no personal experience.

Not CZ, but the best advice is here. What's a good price for re-bluing a Hastings barrel extension (metrobarrel)? Any recommendations for the Phoenix-area?

Minor correction

The Trainer and American have identical, adjustable triggers. The 513 Farmer is the only non-adjustable trigger.

The American has a walnut stock, the Trainer has a beech stock. I like the beech...
