I have personal experience with a Ruger SR22 that the manual clearly states can be safely dry fired. However, the chamber was quite badly dented from doing so! I donít trust those claims anymore.

Iíve often shot shorts in my 22 revolvers. They all work fine. I clean the chambers well before I go back to long rifle, tho. The shorts leave dirt higher up the chambers.

The main shaft that goes all the way through the receiver. It was very tight and would not rotate easily. It was initially so stiff that that the magazine follower couldnít push up the stop.

Just checked mine. Itís the shorter one on the steel frame 75. I did have to polish the pin a bit as it was too stiff in the hole to pivot properly. Works great now!

Thanks for the info. I had suspected that the bolt hold open could be a issue but hadnít realized that the safety would be as well. Seems like it could work but some machining would be required.
