I see them for around 650, I lucked out and found mine in a pawn shop for 300, if you look long enough you can find a deal. Unless you are really wanting the MkII I'd just go ahead and get a MkIV.

Only gun I have ever had dovetail rings move on is a Marlin model 60, I replaced the rings with a RWS mount that has 3 screws and uses almost the whole dovetail. No problems since.

They like moist areas with little sun, I mostly find them in creek and river bottoms that have lots of tall hardwoods blocking the sun, but it can be hard to catch them with fruit still on,
