Strangling is on odd word to use when you want to limit what people can do. Sounds to me that you want to strangle them. They aren’t stopping anyone by using expensive ammo. They are just winning.

You might try shooting it with the thread...

You might try shooting it with the thread protecter off. I have a few threaded barrels where accuracy changed when i did this, or when i untorqued the thing.
