I bet with the 2-7X that you will get one hole group at 25 yards. I agree that a 2X does not allow my eye to pin point each round in the exact same spot.

I believe I would go with the silver solder also. Not only a gunsmith could do it but a refrigeration technician should be able to. They use silver solder for refrigeration tubing.
