I wouldn't exactly call it "normal" but wear on a brand new is fairly normal. I would dis-assemble it and look for the contact and possibly polish that spot out.

All my builds are custom one-offs that don't use any Ruger parts. Plan it out and buy parts slowly, look for sales on what you want. The basic build with great parts starts at about $600.

I've had my Gemtech Mist for 4yrs now, with the G-core baffling it has been a joy to clean. Even with my 10/22 the only thing you can hear is the bolt(and you have to listen for that).

That pin doesn't come out, that's why there isn't a hole on both sides and Ruger doesn't show it, it's a one time install. Looking carefully at where it goes I beleive I can see it in your pic.

The pin in the middle/bottom is the travel stop...

The pin in the middle/bottom is the travel stop spring pin for the firing pin. All bolts have but it may have been ground after installation so as to not be visible.
