It's more about how it was stored than how old it is. I have several bricks of Western Supermatch Mark III from the mid 60's to early 70's that looks and shoots like the day it was manufactured....

I do shoot groups at 25 yards from time to time but much prefer to shoot at 50 yards and beyond. 25 yards does not accurately evaluate the potential of the rifle or the ammo.
