There are also 1911 grips of different thickness, some slimline and others full thickness. I have some thicker grips that I bought from Brownell's and I really prefer them.

There is a difference between high velocity ammo and Hyper velocity. I think those concerns would be about Hyper velocity, Stingers etc.
