You might also try playing with the torque settings on the receiver. It took me a while to pull that one back from the grey matter archive....if you have a torque wrench that measures in inch/lbs,...

I have a number 4 and it did exactly the same thing. I removed the pillar under the barrel in the forearm(it was dovetailed directly to the barrel and was clamped to the stock) it now shoots like it...
