What happened to the Ruger 7214 and 7216?

Can anyone help me understand what happened to the 7214 and 7216 models of the 77/17 wsm? Those are the 24" laminate and walnut versions. I am pretty computer stupid but it looks to me like they are no longer on Ruger's website. I am curious if Ruger addressed problems with the 77/17wsm and now the 7217 and 7218 are new and improved versions. At the top of their 77/17 page the 7216 is featured in the photo, but I can't find it on their website now.

Thanks, Macc

I spoke with a rep from Ruger a couple weeks back. At that time the the 24" model was no longer in production. They still had the 20" walnut stock, and the 18.5" green laminate stock 17 WSM versions in production. They were on the website yesterday.

Did the Ruger Rep offer any explanations as to why the 24" models were dropped?

Did not.

Thanks for the info. Back in May last year Ruger had issued a press release about the walnut 20" model saying:

"Following on the heels of the successful reintroduction of the 77-Series bolt-action rifles, Ruger is also introducing the 77/17 chambered in .17 WSM with a 20" blued alloy steel barrel and American walnut stock. Flat shooting and superbly accurate, this rifle also features an improved trigger pull over previous 77/17 WSM models."

I was wondering if the 18/5" version also had an improved trigger but reading some reports, it doesn't sound like it. I haven't heard anything about the trigger on the 20" version. I'd be surprised if the trigger is any different than the other WSM models. I love my 77/__'s but they have all needed trigger work.

Expecting the same trigger issues when my new one gets here in a couple days. Already have a different trigger spring and bolt shim kit waiting. Part of the fun is making it better.
