New to me Single-Six
I had been looking for awhile to find a nice old model single six revolver. After doing a lot of reading on our favorite forum here, I have read statements by Iowegan and others that the new model is a safer revolver, so I expanded my search to include the new model as well. I found a like new in box blued steel new model with a 4 5/8 inch barrel, my favorite. I couldn't resist, and it came home with me today. I see that this particular revolver was made in 2015, and I just couldn't believe the quality of the polished blued steel finish. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet but am sure getting my share of enjoyment just looking at it and admiring it. Came with black plastic checkered grips but I had a nice pair of original Ruger walnut grips in my parts bin and they sure do look nice on it. Sorry for rambling on, but this 74 year old shooter still gets excited over buying a new Ruger.:bthumb:

I bought a new Ruger Single Six a couple of weeks ago. Boy do I like it! It has the Bisley grip.

That is really nice, camguyed, I like it!:bthumb:

Thanks. The one of the guys that works at my LGS said he didn't like the way it looks and that the more traditional plow handle grip is better looking. I told him that I plan to shoot it, not look at it (LOL). I use to have a blued Single Six but sold it a few years ago when in need of $$$. I missed it and was able to land this one. With the standard grip I found that my pinky couldn't decide whether to try to hang on or go under the grip. This Bisley grip solves that problem.

Looking forward to seeing pics of yours.

Nice photo & a nice gun! I see it has adjustable sights also. I was holding out for a Wrangler but my LGS said there were none to be found and my pistol permit was about to expire and the price was right. I am pretty sure that I like this one more than I would have liked a Wrangler. I hope you have many happy years with your new Single Six. I'm sure both of these guns will outlast us!

Thank you. I'm traditionally a fan of stainless steel in my handguns, but this short bbl blued steel single-six just spoke to me.:)

I have a NM Vaquero Bisley SS in .45 Colt , love that grip.

Just thought I would update the status on my single-six that I had bought. I saw that Browell's had a stainless steel grip frame for the single six, so I ordered one and a darker set of grips to go with it. Sorry for the so-so picture, but the grip frame required more final fitting that I expected, so I just did a partial fitting and will do a better job this winter when I have more available time.

Very nice. I recently installed a bisley grip frame on one of my stainless Single Seven Rugers, and it also required a lot of fitting. I like the two tone look. I turned an Old Model into a two tone by stripping the finish off of the grip frame with oven cleaner, but if you want the extra weight then stainless is the way to go. Also have a factory two tone 8 shot Blackhawk in .327.

I never thought of using oven cleaner. What did the finish of the naked grip frame look like after using oven cleaner? I have always just liked the looks of two-tone. I wanted the weight of stainless steel, but it would have definitely have been cheaper to go the other route.
