IMO, whatever you bought/buy 10/22, CZ, etc., you will easily spend $1000 or more if you keep on coming back to RFC.

There's too much good advice and information here to live an uneventful life going forward. Some of those who are married on RFC say that it costs them twice as much as single people.

Thanks for the tip! After reading through numerous threads, I figured I would have to up the ante.

It seems in order to consistently hit dime size targets consistantly at 50 yds I'll need a rifle over $1000... or a bigger target :)

bucko 05-05-2021 06:29 PM

I don't know about the $1000. I did spend it, but in looking back I don't think I really had to. I do know now that for a long time I didn't know what I really wanted and that is a no no.

gcrank1 05-05-2021 06:51 PM

So, would you go half that price to pretty consistently hit a nickel?

660grizzlyguy 05-05-2021 08:56 PM

I was a CZ fanboy. Now a Tikka T1x fan. Several fellow competitors also have them, and they all shoot great. A dime at 50 yards is no problem. I think mine was $465 OTD.

I wanted to buy a Tikka T1X to compare with my CZ collection, but my dealer said if I order now, I might see it in 6 months. I like instant gratification so I decided to hold off for now.

Thanks to y'all that listed rifles. :bthumb: I'll check them all out.

And thanks to all the others for offering free advice and satire :)

I think Im past my prime to try out for olympic shooting, so I'll stick with under a grand and probably still tinker once I get the hang of this.

On a side note - with the ammo shortages are you all finding the quality of the ammo lacking ? just curious

The stuff I have had on hand is just as bad as its always been....hasnt been Anything to buy to try for months now.

Haven't really seen a loss of quality in the ammo- just a lack of supply and much higher prices at most places. Luckily, I had a fairly good supply before this all hit and the pandemic has kept me and my shooting buddies occupied enough to slow down my ammo consumption quite bit...

Iíve read rave reviews on the bergara b14 . I thought that gun was supposed to be under $1000, no?
Iíve been thinking about one of those .

I think Toomany22s finally talked me into getting one of those Muller 8x32ís.

Yup, buy price under $1,000, most are not disappointed with the purchase. Mine is fantastic!

I recently shot a Bergara B-14 HMR 22LR and it was shooting lights out at 100 and 200 with a 20MOA rail and vortex scope. It’s not a Vudoo but pretty close. If I were to be more into that class of shooting I would start there and work my way up. Just giving you an honest observation and personal experience from shooting one of these rifles. The stock is very McMillan without the price tag.

Kidd Barrel (Lothar Walther Blank) 18"
Timnney Trigger
Bell & Carlson Target/Varmint Stock with bedding block.
Cabela's Covenant 4 scope 6x24.
Go have fun!
