Can you seat a loaded mag.......

.....in your Savage MK II with the bolt closed? Because I can't. What's the problem here?

Disassemble the magazine and cut off a little bit of the follower legs, struts whatever. A sixteenth of an inch should be enough. Try to cut the same amount off of both legs.
this worked on the 5 round mag for my Mark II.

First see if it works with 4 rounds.

Open bolt, insert magazine, close bolt.

I have the same issue with "loaded" magazines. (I read not only the header but the entire post.)

What I posted is my solution to the problem.

In another recent thread someone suggested loading mags to capacity minus one round.

I think the problem it's a 5 shot; ie, 4 in the mag and one in the chamber.
Since I dont like walking around with one in the chamber, safety on or off:eek: and pretty much only shoot mine single shot it isnt an issue.
I can see where it may be if one wanted to use the gun at, say, an Appleseed Shoot?

No, I can not seat a full 5 shot magazine in my MK II BV if the bolt is closed. I have 3 - 5 shot magazines, the one that came with the rifle and 2 extras that I purchased and none of them will load full with the bolt closed.
Has anyone asked Savage if that was their intent ?

This fixed it. It was a little hard to get the floor plate off(and back on) but taking a sixteenth off the follower legs solved the problem. Thanks kr54.

You're welcome.

I have three 5 round mags that I can insert with only four rounds. However, I have two 10 rnags that can be inserted with 10 rounds in them. Go figure.
