May 2021 CZ/BRNO Scoped 25 YardRimfire Central Online Benchrest Match

May 2021 CZ/BRNO Scoped 25 Yard Rimfire Central Online Benchrest Match

We are off to a great start for the year with some new participants and, already, some great scores. I only see improvements in the future.
As a reminder, post up any target you shoot, if you like, so we can all praise you for your perseverance and improvements. Just don't forget to go back and mark your best as "Official Entry" before the end of the month.

Guidelines:

CZ or BRNO scoped sporters – less than or equal to 9.0 lbs when weighed with the magazine removed. The CZ 452, 453, 455, and 457 Varmint models should qualify unless your glass and rings are more than 2 pounds, but as far as BRNO Models 3 and 4 -- sorry guys, you'll have to step up to the 50 yard distance.

Any safe trigger. Maximum magnification of 9x on the scope. (Those with variable scopes set them to 9x or lower).

No aftermarket barrels or stocks — only CZ's original stocks and barrels. It is also prohibited to swap the stocks of different CZ models such as taking the stock from a Varmint and putting it on a Trainer. If one has damaged his/her original CZ stock, they may order the same exact factory replacement stock for their specific model. There are other BR games on RFC for dramatically altered rifles. We are trying to encourage competition with unmodified or minimally modified scoped CZ sporters. As to custom stock bedding performed on a factory stock, no compound-bedding allowed, pillared or non, and plain pillar bedding is prohibited as well.

Target is the USBR Target (The Green Monster)

22 long rifle

Fired from a benchrest using separate front and rear support and a bi-pod is fine if the shooter prefers. Gun vices and one piece rests are not allowed.

Distance to target is 25 yards

Time limit - 1 hour for unlimited sighters and the 25 rounds for score

You can shoot on an indoor range if it is your only option, but please report that fact in your post.

You can post multiple targets if each is fired with a different CZ. For example, a shooter could post one with her CZ Varmint and another with her CZ American and a third with a scoped Ultra Lux! You may shoot up to FOUR targets with EACH rifle and post the highest score fired with each one.

Post a pic of your target (required) and the equipment you used (recommended) in this thread by May 31, 2021.

Honor system, and we couldn't ask for a more honorable bunch.

Wind flags are fine. I usually tie a piece of bright streamer or the like to a hammered-in stake.

Use this format to post your score(s):

I decided to celebrate American freedom to shoot what I want, when I want, as today is international commie day and they can't but I can, so I did! First GM of the month and I wish it was better.

Other info
Set this gun up for this match. Had to send gun back to CZ after I determined it did not shoot to my needs. CZ agreed and replaced the barrel and was very professional about it. Having the longer barrel upped the guns weight so I had no scopes that would get the gun under max weight, asked for info here. One shooter directed me to the Clearidge scope. Weight now at 8lb. 11oz. I can live with that. Wanted to try a bipod and could not find anything I liked. Came across the Sinclair bipod and ordered it, after talking to a member here on RFC. Now to learn about bipods and get more familiar with the gun.

By the way I had a great time shooting by myself. Went to a friends farm that he and I had built a small range at one time. Only problem with that it is a 100yd range with a dip in the middle of it. To get 25 yds. I shot at a extreme downward angle. Target was probably 10 feet below gun level. Will go to my regular range next trip.

Way to get at it Bill. First out of the chute and leading the pack.

Welcome aboard Chuck. That is a fine looking piece of art. I'm sure your scores will soar as you become accustomed to the new toy.

How is the Parallax on the Clearidge? How do the crosshairs look in comparison to the GM 10 circle?

Chuck - I would be interested in your thoughts on the Clearidge Ultra RM. I've considered switching to that scope for this match because of the fine reticle. It sort of looks like those Nikon Pro-Staffs that I failed to buy.

Thanks

I am very happy with the parallel adjustment on this scope. Very fine crosshairs. Close to the fine crosshairs in my Sightron 10x50x60 and the Nitrex 6x20x50 scopes. Please keep in mind this is only a 3x9x32 scope but the smaller size means saved weight. I was able to see the center dot well enough.

Hope this answers any questions you might have had.

Don't ever remember looking through a Nikon scope before. I would not be the one to compare the two. I am happy with this scope for the 25 yd match, would not use it at 50 yds though.

I didn't get a target submitted for April, but thought I would join in on the fun for May. I see there were some good targets shot in April. Had a perfect evening to shoot after a rain shower, no wind.

Chuck, welcome to the challenge! You Need your own nickname to put on your targets. Since we already have Chuck Norris and Chuck Bronson I thought maybe you could go by "Silver" because of your new Clearidge scope. I have never seen one, but I looked up their website and was surprised they are made in Japan. That is a good thing for optics. How is the clarity?

Thank you SB. About a name I will try to remember to put my screen name the target from now on. Would not want to be confused with the famous Chucks out there.

The scope was recommended by a RFC member, regarding my quest to keep the weight below 9 lbs. for this match. The scope is clear and the crosshairs are very fine but visible. Out with it today (5-8-21) I did notice some halos around the black targets. Don't know if that is real or not, I am waiting on some eye surgery at this time. Wish the VA would hurry up with the surgery. I basically stopped shooting the open sight match because I see two of everything at this time.

Thanks for posting chuck. Things were getting so slow here I was going to post my ragged target from last week just to generate some traffic.

Hope you get that vision thing sorted out soon. I'm in sorta the same boat but still dragging my feet till my next eye appointment next month. Anything they want to do except a new prescription can wait till after December.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there! My wife is up in NoVa with her daughter and her grandkids. Nice. So I got up early because the aviation weather said it would be calm this morning. I took care to the two doggies, skipped breakfast and went to the range at 0700 hours. It, indeed, was calm and bright. And empty as I expected. Unfortunately I have no excuses to use for that 8 and the X deficit. It can’t be the ELEY 10 X, can it? It is what it is so here it is. You can see the wind whipping to the left can’t you?
