Remington Model 37 production survey.

Hi all,

I am conducting a survey of the Remington Model 37 production dates by serial number for my own interest. I am interested in knowing approximately how many 37's were produced on a monthly basis throughout the rifles production span. I have already taken the information that Myles has previously posted in this forum and added it to a spreadsheet that I an working on. If you have a Model 37 and are interested in participating I would appreciate your information greatly. The only information that I am interested in is the serial number on the receiver and date codes on the barrel, your information will not be shared with anyone. You may post your info in this thread or send me a PM here or send it to my personal email address [email protected]. If you choose to send an email please put Remington 37 in the subject line so that it doesn't go to my spam folder. Thank you gentlemen.

BTW mine is 07709 CTT 4-48.

Hey OM58, thanks for taking your time to do this.

Mine is 01517 but I don't have the barrel codes. Haven't had time to take it apart yet. Hope to soon, with more pics.

big7mm,

If the barrel on your Model 37 is a Remington made barrel you shouldn't have to take your rifle apart to find the date codes, they should be located on the R/H side of the barrel just forward of the receiver just above the stock line. Should be 2 or 3 letters, the first letter indicates the month of manufacture and the 2nd and 3rd if present indicate the year of manufacture. A custom barrel will be marked differently. Hope this helps. Thanks

I have 5 of them on Myles list. My oldest isn't old 1933, Mike Walker's rifle to the 100XX rifle. I sure like them

Yup, you're right. I never even checked there. It is "EK", which would make it October 1941?

You're pretty sharp for an old man. Thanks.

Thank you eastbank. Question, is your barrel code perhaps LYY? The first letter in the code is the month of manufacture, there is no Y designating a month. LYY would be 2-1952 which seems to make more sense. Thanks

yep,you got it. fingers didn,t work with the eyes. eastbank.

Thank you sir, your information has been added to the list.

I now have a total of 67 serial numbers logged, I know it's not a good representation of the total production yet but every number helps to get closer. Even if your rifle has been rebarreled with either a factory replacement barrel or an aftermarket barrel I would still like to hear about it. I believe the Eric Johnson barrels were dated and others may be as well, they still fit the list. Keep'em comin guys, thanks for all of your help !!!

2 more for the list!

After some prodding my friend Dave has given me this information on his two factory original 37s: 06186, ESS and 09517, WWB.
