Is something like return shipping or a 2 for 1 sale, for examples, really free? Al wondered to himself abstractedly thinking, huh, nothing is, was, really free in his experience. :)

Beg to differ, if one were to take SOME of the 'free' advice offered here it might get expensive, after all there are lots of enablers here :-)
