H&R model 999 Sportsman
Trying to get some info:
Just purchased an engraved model 999 sportsman there are no letters in the serial # 999xxx on butt of frame. I took off the grips no letters or numbers there. I found the name K. Hurst. This I found out was the engraver. It does have a transfer bar.
Can anyone shed any more light on the possible year of manufacture or other helpful info.

If your revolver looks like this:

then it was produced in a limited series of 999 units around 1984/5.

now thats a nice example of the H&R , mine arent that fancy - but they are first year productions so they hadnt thought to do this yet , i like the case

Well, it looks like the OP is MIA. He/She hasn't been back since posting this inquiry. He/She is probably a senior such as myself, but with a more advanced loss of short term memory and he/she simply forgot that he/she even posted this inquiry:-)

A Square 10: I too have a few of these fine H&R, top break revolvers, and none of them are like this special issue, engraved example produced in a limited number. Normally, I don't like fancy, commemorative firearms, but this one caught my attention when it came out and I couldn't resist.

we dont need the OP to admire that one , and yes you are right about that being in exceptionally good taste as these limited editions go , i too would have grabbed it up , its beautiful ,

Very nice. I have one of these revolvers that isnít engraved. I swear it must have a 20lb DA trigger.

Thank you for the nice comments.

I posted the photos of my H&R special 999 Sportsman commemorative revolver to let other readers here see what these look like since they're not all that many (999) produced. I was also hoping to see the OP's revolver to determine if it was one of these, or some other variation of the basic 999 Sportsman revolver that I am not familiar with. Apparently, this is not to be. So sad since I come here to the RFC to learn something new to me and I have a particular interest in, and fondness for, these top break Harrington & Richardson, and Iver Johnson .22 revolvers.
