December Fun Shoots

Finally finished

Get ready for Ol' Man Winter...

Have a merry Christmas :bthumb:

Here we go again:

Make a note of these, they will be the guide for all future Fun Shoots'
SmallCal.

RFC Fun Shoot; Classes and Rules
This Fun Shoot is for any RF cartridge rifle, to include the following, .22 RF, .22 Mag. , .17 RF.

All targets in each class are shot at 25 yards.

The (old) rules for Class 1 expired 4-30-09 and have been deleted. (This update to C-1 made 7-16 09)

Note that we will use three different classes of rifles for this shoot and from now on and these class rules will apply for all future Fun Shoots. Make a note of them.

(NEW Rules for Class 1 Fun Shoot as of 7-16-`09 SPECIAL ADDENDUM to C1 irons and scoped shoot. PLEASE NOTE, that from this date (2-4-2019) on forward the ammo used in this class is limited in price to $4.00 per box for 50 rounds.

This Class 1 Fun Shoot is reserved for beginners and novice of any age.

Targets will be generous and fairly easy to learn on.

Class 1. Box Stock HUNTING/PLINKING rifles only, NO target rifles allowed. Allowed modifications will be limited to the addition of a scope with variable power settings and shortening of the butt stock for fit to smaller shooters. Scope power will be assigned at the time of the shoot. Usually not more than 9X. Iron sighted rifles will use original sights or replacements like the original. Any rest is allowed except Machine Rest.
These modifications to this Class 1 shoot are implemented to allow older beginners and novice shooters to join in the Fun Shoot without the heavy competition of shooting against target type rifles and highly skilled shooters. Those rifles and shooters will go to Class 2 from now on. If you have questions, PM me direct. SmallCal

PLEASE NOTE, that from this date (2-4-2019) on forward the ammo used in this class is limited in price to $4.00 per box for 50 rounds.

SmallCal

(Unchanged)
Class 2; Modified Hunting/Sporting Rifles. Allowed modifications will be limited to the addition of adjustable scopes with the power setting assigned at each shoot, adjustable receiver sights, globe front sights, trigger modifications/replacement to lighten weight of pull but NO low end limit but must be safe. Barrel replacement of any design that doesn`t make your rifle exceed the weight limit of 10.5 lb. total weight. Stock modifications or replacement stocks that resemble thumbhole or sporting stocks which have a convex forend profile and horizontal width no greater than 2 inches wide are allowed.
If your Modified Sporting Rifle exceeds any one or more of the above limits, it will be in the higher Class 3 group.

(Unchanged)
Class 3; All of those rifles that were/are designed for the strict purpose of Bench Rest Shooting with unlimited modifications and all of those rifles that exceed any limits in the Modified Hunting/Sporting Rifle class.
This class can be divided into two sub classes of those bench rifles with scopes (unlimited power) and those with iron sights (unlimited type). This sight division will allow all of the super race guns to be included here.

If you are unsure of the class you should be in, go to the next higher class and state that on your score/target postings.
I do know that there will be some rifles that are so close to fitting into more than one category that its hard to tell where they should go. If in question, go up a class.

Post score as shown here.

Hi Cow 54
Thanks for doing these fun shoots at 25 yards! If the weather cooperates I hope to do these this next week as I have already printed off a few. What is really nice about these 25 yard shoots is that we do not need to use high grade expensive match ammo to have fun and still compete.

:bthumb:

For my plinker rifles I tend to use Geco semi-auto ($2.50 per box).

For others SK. Biathlon, Rifle Match, Pistol Match Special are only $6.50 per box. YMMV..

The idea is to have FUN!

I am so old that I did not even know what YMMV meant. I had to google it to find out. Now I know! Your Mileage will Vary. Thanks

Excellent photo of the wood ducks. Looks like the hen has an acorn ready to eat. I have an mounted made wood duck here at home. They are absolutely beautiful birds.

Well I cheated again. On Monday with the temperature in the 20's here in Minnesota I went to the local indoor range to shoot my targets at 25 yards. I did go deer hunting again this year, but when in the very cold woods all day I dress like Ralphies brother in the Christmas Story movie. If I fell over my many layers may hinder my getting upright again. Never saw a deer this year. I love an excuse to shoot and these forum matches are great. This forum also has helped me with some less expensive than more costly winning match ammo. Several months ago someone on one of these forums mentioned an online store going out of business and was having some good prices on ammo. I purchased a brick of Norma Tac 22 ($37.50 Inc S&H)and after testing with my match Remington 40X and Benchmark barrel rifle I was impressed. So I purchased 2 more bricks at an even lower price of $30.00 each including S&H. Not quite as good a lot as the first, but for $3.00 a box net price I am very pleased. This $3.00 ammo is what I shot the rat target with. I really like one hole groups like the right column of rats! So thank You Rimfire Central Forum.

Yes, wood ducks are awesome, but your photo is beyond awesome...It is fantastic. You have great talent and obviously a good lens.

Here is my class II iron sight target shot on Monday. Shot indoors with temperatures outdoors in the 20's. I love the Henry Golden Boy which I won this year at an American Legion raffle, but with my aging eyes I will probably not shoot many more of these targets as it is just too hard to focus with open sights. I did like this target as it has points assigned. I hope I scored it correctly, but I did not score too high as I only had 103 out of a possible 120.

And a nice Irons target too. Very small target with open sights.

That is beautiful picture Stan! The new camera and cameraman did good.

I don't know about talent, I'm just a geek with a camera :)

Here is the rig that I used to catch the wood duck. Camera body by Nikon, lens is a Sigma 150 to 600mm zoom.
