Bedding my Target Stock
Today I should be receiving my Raven Eye bedding pillar in the mail and I figured I would Start a thread of my progress of installing it and bedding my stock after. I have the 10/22 laminated wood target stock. Its time for me to run to Home Depot to go get some forstner bits and get this show on the road. If you guys have any tips and tricks please let me know. :bthumb:

Have you ever bedded a rifle? What bedding compound are you using?
Are you going to limit to gluing in a pillar, or bed the takedown area?

My advice- READ those that have gone before you, and prep, prep, prep.

IME, rifle bedding is 80% prep work, 10% actual bedding, and 10% sweating it out until it comes apart successfully.

There’s a bunch of sticky threads at the top of each forum, they were stuck because of their instructional value. Here’s a link to all the pillar bedding stickies in this forum:

Good luck with your project!

Yes I have done some bedding before. This has been my squirrel gun for years and the reciever has always had play in this stock so I figured it could use a good fit finnally. Thee raven eye pillar is in. It's not a hard process at all if like you said you prep and take your time. Now going to bed the rear of the receiver tomorrow.

Did you attach the action before the glue dried? I would have done all of the bedding at the same time I installed the pillar.

Yes I attached the action before it dried. On the 10/22 I have always done it in stages. It may not be the best way but I have always put the pillar in then bedded the rear reciever. It's not a target gun. All I wanted was a nice clean fit in my stock. I can still put holes on paper on top of each other at 50yards all day long with my stock sporter barrel. It's a woods/squirrel gun and has served me well and will continue to do so.

Well I finished the rear portion of bedding my reciever and I am very happy with the way it turned out. I just have to clean it up a bit and it will be good to go. Everything sits super solid now. Next i will move to around the bedding pillar. Before that though I am going to have some fun shooting it for a bit.
