Purpose Built Suppressor Host?

All-

Considering building a purpose built 10/22 for suppressed target shooting, especially considering the price of barreled BRN-22 receivers right now ($125 for a railed receiver with threaded bull barrel). Adding in a Brownells bolt, BX-Trigger, and a Hogue Overmolded Stock I'm coming in about $400 before optics.

Has anyone built something similar? Any special precautions to consider when building a gun that will spend most of its time suppressed?

Just the threaded barrel. Be prepared to clean the gun and mags more frequently. And smile a lot. :)

I shoot suppressed most of the time.

Boy, you ain't kidding about the cleaning! Just got an ultralight Kidd barrel for number 2 Kidd 10/22. Relatively fresh build so I lubed it up pretty good and ran about 200 Blazers thru it before switching to standard velocity and then to SK. All in all probably 450-500 rounds suppressed. Dang, what a mess! The can probably already had 500+ rounds thru it so I had to clean everything!
Guy in stall next to me said he loved the sound of my can! :D

What else have you done to the rifle besides the Barrel? I’m thinking of building a 10/22 and thinking about a KIDD ultra lightweight barrel. Strictly a hunting rifle.

It's an all Kidd build, receiver, bolt, single stage at 1-1/2 lbs., ultralight threaded barrel in the Magpul stock with the Magpul M-Lock bipod. You may need the cheek riser accessory. Weaver V-16 scope.
I would definitely consider the ultralight barrel, I have two and they both shoot!

I have a Kidd ULW Classic. It has the 16” threaded ULW barrel, great rig. I run it suppressed with a Surefire Ryder. It is used primarily for hunting/pest control and I typically shoot HV ammo out of it. It likes CCI 36 gr mini mags in particular, groups right at a half inch. The suppressor quiets it down a good bit although it still has sonic crack.

Subs are definitely quieter thru the rifle, but not as quiet as they are in my suppressed CZ 455. No way to eliminate action noise, etc... Still my favorite rimfire rifle. Have several high end rimfires that rarely make it out of the safe.

I did.

Magpul Hunter Stock
Tactical advantage barrel
Kidd Single Stage Trigger
Polished the receiver and bolt
Replaced guide rod and spring to lower power
Carbon fiber bipod
Replaced other internal parts from Tandemkross

You have to experiment with different ammunition.

You may have to experiment with different springs.

I also have a Ruger Mark IV Target with T&J Tactical Integral Suppressor. Similar work on internals and experimented with different recoil springs.

Very low powered ammunition will not cycle. Those are really intended for revolvers and bolt actions.

Iíve done with same with Glock, CZ, and 1911 pistols for Suppressor use.

Centerfire rifles, I have yet to work on. I have worked on working up loads for a Keltec Sub 2000 (Sub 2K) but there are no lower powered recoil springs.
