The color you see on the 7-2KO stock is a stain.

Got it, I guess the better question is what type of stain is CenterfireSystems using on their Biathlon's - beech or walnut? I suspect that one could also ask whether it's possible to re-stain the factory stock if it's too light?

BI-7-2KO Stock ... Most Likely Beech or Birch - Not Walnut

One question, if anyone is interested in answering,
does the finish on the stock vary considerably?
I've seen Biathlon Basic photos with both a light beech?
stock as well as a stock that looks more like walnut.
Personally, I strongly prefer the darker walnut stock.
Not certain what CenterfireSystems is currently offering?

THE BIATHLON-7-2-KO BASIC is a small-bore rifle;
the stock made of wood from birch, beech, and walnut.
Unless the BI-7-2KO is an older EAA import, it is highly unlikely the stock is made of walnut.

Most likely walnut stained beech or birch.

BTW, just in case anyone would like to sell a used 'walnut stained' Biathlon Basic .22LR, please PM me if you're interested in getting rid of that extra BB sitting in your closet or safe. Given the limited BB audience, suspect that it makes sense asking in a relevant Russian rimfire thread instead of first posting a WTB in the classifieds.

Another BB with a walnut looking stock. Actually, this looks (to me) like one of the better or best looking BB that I've run across. Wonder what's different about the stock?
