Mine shoots really well .5"-1" at 50yds without really trying..Wondering if it would shoot better at a shorter carbine length.

I purchased a 452 American about 4 years back, just to sit on. Then my friends(Brad and Nate) jumped on the suppressor craze, and I didn't have a bolt gun to host a suppressor. So I sent that brand new 452 American to the gunsmith for him to cut to 17". Shoots fine, and I don't regret a thing.:bthumb:

Talk with you gunsmith to see what he says, that's what I did.:bthumb:

- pick up a 455 to do your project as barrel swaps are that much easier.

My personal opinion is pick up the 455. I did kind of want a 452 16Ē threaded American for when I retire to a state with better gun rights. I really didnít want the old non standard euro threads cz used at the time. Now I wish I had the new 455 scout for that project. I have a 452 scout though.

I have a grizzly gunsmith lathe so I have options but hate cutting on stuff that might devalue them. Then again I am short so shorter stocks and barrels work better for me. I am not here forever so modifying to fit me makes sense in my old age if I I am coming to keep it. Time to fire up the bandsaw and trim those Winchester 52 stocks.

I have a DIP thread adapter on mine. It matches pretty well, so it's not obvious that it's there at first glance.

Cut away, it's a CZ.....

How to remove front sight and thread a barrel....I realize it's a Lux, but I also did my American (and a Cooper and four Anschutzs).

In every case accuracy was as good or better with a suppressor...Tom

Tom did you slug the barrels before and look for a constriction or did you just cut them off at the length you wanted?

Go for it. Cut that baby off and then let us know how it works out, and post a few before and after targets.

Tom winter is just starting and your hacking barrels already

UK minimum barrel length is 12" and many hunters who use sound moderators and shoot from a truck will cut down, pretty close, to that lower limit.

Many report no noticeable loss in accuracy! I have no personal experience here because my shortest barrel is on my 452 17HMR which is factory 16" and screwcut. I bought this specifically because I always use a sound moderator on the HMR and wanted to keep the overall length reasonable. This rifle is extremely accurate!

Beauty! I find it interesting that with the UK's strict gun laws, use of moderators is considered the polite thing to do for your neighbors. Then here in Canada, our government seems to consider them to be the evil tools of terrorists. :coco:

Well for the purposes of our Firearms Certificates, sound moderators are treat in exactly the same way as the firearms themselves. ( i.e must be agreed with the Cops, prior to purchase and "good reason" for needing them must be stated.)

"Good reason" is often stated by us as being on "Health & Safety" grounds. This usually results in the permission being granted without question.

Her Majesty's Government have put certain H&S rules on the statute book and not even the Cops will challenge that! :D

The SAK mod in the photo retails over here for £40.00 or less!

PS.....Sorry, I did'nt intend to take this thread "off topic!"

Hi, I just cut where necessary since I only shoot them standing and standing I'm lucky to shoot 6 inch groups!

I did slug my Kenyon/Anschutz BR rifle and a 1907 that gets used on the bench. They are both suppressed as well as a Martini MKII and several others. Most don't get shortened. My 1416 is full length. A lot of folks feel they should cut the barrel to the minimum (permanently disfiguring the rifle) for a suppressor but not me. No qualms about screwing a removable suppressor on the end of a 23 inch (or more) barrel.

I am really sold on suppressors and only shoot the non-suppressed rifles when I have company without suppressors.

If I remember correctly (the measure), the CZ 452s had to be cut back a couple inches so the shoulder at the muzzle would be the minimum 0.60 inches the suppressor manufacturers require...Tom

Peter I understand your suppressors are so inexpensive that they're disposable?...Tom
