Off the rails again, with the usual culprits in charge of navigation. I'm so glad we have the Community Forum so, "we can all just get along".

Hard and fast rule here at RFC, Mr. Pig. No thread can go more than 3 replies without the subject being changed.

It's all good. At my age I tend to ramble a bit myself.

I trained Her Carly as She was working full time. Carly was the silent type and I trained her to yip when someone was at the door.
Dang thing was a lap whore and after 10min. guarding one's jewels she was your new best friend, seriously.
She was a chippy & mouse killer thru n thru however.
We had her 16yrs. and the loss grief too much for the wife to get another.

Years back our FD handed out 9V batteries for smoke detectors at our city's 4th of July parade. Turned out that many were out of date, some of them dead.

They put an ad in the local paper apologizing, and mailed out new ones to those who asked. :)

My GF's Chihoohahooha alarms at anything (especially me). I have no doubt he'd wake the house up if there were a fire. Good little doggie. :)

Happened to me at 2:00 am last night.

All batteries seem to die when the temp. drops. Look when car battery's die most of the time, during the winter when cold.

I use a rechargeable 9v for mine with my RC car/plane charger it only takes 45 mins to fully charge my smoke detector

in fact a couple of years ago I went through the entire house and replaced all batteries with rechargeable including my burglar alarm

First of all, new smoke detectors are only good for 10 years. It has to do with emissions that are produced and wear out, Second, I believe the new National code requires that the detectors are also run by household current and don't use the battery unless the electric is out. That means regular batteries will last the 10 years. I actually have one detector that the battery was put in in 2013 so both will have to be changed in less than 2 years.

Why do the always go off in the middle of the night. I don't know but it always seems to happen that way. I have one bedroom that is closed up is very rarely used and that one will go off about every other year and it was replaced in 2017 so it' not worn out. About a week ago, all went off about 11:00 PM and then stopped. Some of that may be caused by smoke from fires down in AZ.
