Well I did something stupid

again. The 597 just went through a good cleaning and I noticed the ejector was rubbing on the bolt. I'll fix that and out came a pair of pliers to "adjust" it. Yeah right. Snap. Midway USA comes through again. Stupid, Stupid, Stupid.

Can't leave well enough alone, eh? I've been there. :bthumb:

I'm sure that NONE of us in the forum have EVER done ANYTHING like that! Attempting to make a minor adjustment and then, OMG!! what have I done.
Nope. Nobody. Never.

I've tried to bend mine a smidge for the same reason. Its a very rigid, sturdy, part and hard to correct.

The part comes today so let's hope dumb isn't followed by dumber and I break it somehow. I used to work on the RR. They had a saying. Give him a glass hammer and a rail. He'd break the rail. I seemed to hear that behind my back fairly often.

If the new one rubs significantly take a smidge off the side of the ejector to satisfy the need to tinker? However keep in mind its sturdy for a reason.

Well nice that Uncle Larry could bail you out and provide the part.

I get kind of tense when a rifle isn't 100% functional. Don't know what phobia to call it?

We have already done most of the same things so maybe 5 minutes would be enough to cover the new things!

Has anyone done this? Hot August evening at Leesville Lake Ohio. Fishing in the boat with a flyrod and surface poppers catching 'gills and bass wearing shorts and nothing else. Decided it would be a great idea to see if a bat would hit a popper. It did and now a whole new feel to my rod. There mister dimbuld is with a bat flying all around and no real plan on how to release it from the hook.
