Marlin 795, adding a scope

Hi everyone just joined.
I have a Marlin .22 Model 795, looking to put a scope on it for picking squirrels out of tree's and turtles out of the pond + target practicing.
I wanted y'all's opinion on what i am looking at and if it would work or not.

The scope: https://www.midwayusa.com/product/11...cle-with-rings

and mount: https://www.amazon.com/UTG-Airgun-Pr.../dp/B002TUSJV6

I read some other threads on a forum where they said just scope rings could tend to loosen up and throw your scope out of zero.
your opinions, suggestions welcome!:D

You are going to want an adjustable if you ask me. The squirrels will never be at the same distance but will sit and watch you take aim.

True, did not think of that. I know very little about scopes..
Any recommendations?

Sounds like a nice little rifle. While it is rather an entry-level scope, the Simmons 3-9x32 AO is a useful variable power scope. From that point upward in cost, the sky is literally the limit.

Best of luck,

Dyson

imo your selected rings are a bit high though they will clear your rear sight. I went with steel Weaver medium height and Bushnell Trophy XLT 1.75X4 then removed the rear and front sights.

Nice looking rifle, sir.
Are these the rings you mentioned? https://www.amazon.com/Weaver-Grand-.../dp/B004NCJCUK

DGNY, Looks like a nice little scope you're talking about, found one for a little more than the first i was looking at, https://www.opticsplanet.com/simmons...s-w-rings.html

I have the Simmons 3x9 on one of mine and she loves it.

My wife has a Barska and a Sweet on her 2 Marlins, 22lr and 22WMR, she is very accurate with both. These were before she got her Barska. Both are 3-9.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...eb430b5ba5.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...c96e7a8d7c.jpg

this setup looks pretty good. I do like the fact i can still use iron sights...
losing iron sights ain't the end of the world for me.

Think the Barska should be fine.

The airgun mount is a good idea. The scope on my brother's 795 slid a lot with a conventional scope mount. Once he switched over to that same mount you are looking at, the sliding problem went away.

Thank you. The link you posted is the same height but the rings I used are built different with steel plates on both sides of the base. They are a bit more hassle to mount but you can shift the scope side to side to perfect center the scope. Might be hard without a laser bore sight.

I did some more reading on the Barska 3-9x32 scope, i think I'm going to go with it, a lot of people seemed happy with it, they said it comes with mounts, but they aren't the best of quality and loosen up.. one person recommended this mount :https://www.amazon.com/UTG-Medium-Pr...g-goods&sr=1-1
I'll either go with that one or these Weaver medium height rings https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00162QDEI...ding=UTF8&th=1

Opinions?
I am pretty much set on the Barska.

Once I was happy with my wife's scope, she had shot it an said it was good, I backed 1 screw at a time and purple lock tite on them.

I also have the Barska 3-9x32 scope, actually several on different rifles. I have found that there is a parallax issue at 50 yards, though. That means one has to be very careful in setting one's eye to the scope "picture" - identically for each shot. Before purchasing one, you might try to look through the scope - hold it very steady and move your head slightly to see if the crosshairs are "drifting".

Other than that, I find the Barskas bright, clear and a good and thrifty investment.

Best,

Dy
